    3rd Section Winners Morley March and Hymn Contest

    Garforth Brass took part in the recently inaugurated Morley March and Hymnn Contest. They played the Hymn ‘Cloisters’and the contest march ‘The Contestor’ and won the Section 3 prize.

    5th in Section 2 Yorkshire Area Finals 2010

    After their debut in the 2nd Section Yorkshire Area Finals, the band had a marvellous day and finished overall 5th. A fantastic effort from everyone, proving our place within this section. We are now working hard to strengthen the band and look forward to pushing ourselves towards section 1.

    Garforth Brass are the new Yorkshire Region 3rd Section Champions of 2009!
    After competing in the Yorkshire Regional Contest at Bradford, with Steven Bailey conducting, Garforth were delighted to pick up the winners shield and now look forward to completing in the National Finals later in the year.

    Butlins Mineworkers Competition

    The band had its first outing of the year at the Butlins Mineworkers Competition at Skegness.
    It was a very cold day both outside and in the main tent.
    Out of 12 bands Garforth were 5th, being the highest placed Yorkshire band.

    Garforth Brass Slow Melody Contest

    Garforth Brass slow melody contest took place at Garforth Community College. The adjudicator was again Mr Graham Walker.
    There were two sections, Under 18’s and Open Section.
    The Under 18’s winner was Alice Waterhouse on euphonium. The open section was won by Julian Walls, also on euphonium.

    National Brass Band Finals (Harrogate)

    The band attended The National Brass Band finals in Harrogate representing Yorkshire in the 3rd Section.

    We enjoyed the day but were disappointed with our result however, we were the top placed band from the Yorkshire region.

    Garforth Brass receive cheque for £1000

    Yorkshire Regionals (2008)

    After taking part in the Yorkshire Regional Finals in Bradford on Saturday 1st March, Garforth Brass gained a very creditable 2nd position and are now on the way to the National Finals in Harrogate in September……Well done to all members for a splendid effort!

    Easingwold March Contest Deportment Prize

    Saturday 27th June 2009 saw Garforth Brass enter in the Easingwold March Competition. They entered playing the contest march ‘The Contestor’ and won the deportment prize, a fine trophy and £75 for the band funds. ‘No one realised we were so good at marching’.

    Garforth Brass Slow Melody Contest 2009

    This year the slow melody contest took place in Garforth Methodist Church.
    We are again in the debt of Mr Graham Walker for adjudicating the contest.
    The winner of both the under 18’s category and open contest was  Chris McKenna.
    Well done to everyone who took part, the evening was a great success!
