Liz has played trumpet since childhood. She was taught by Wilfred Heaton, Dennis Wilby and Graham Walker. At Pudsey Grammar Liz had the opportunity to study music under Michael Hopkinson. As a teenager she played with Northern Area Schools Symphony Orchestra. From school she moved on to teacher training college in Scarborough. This move created many opportunities to play at the Floral Hall, Scarborough Spa Theatre, Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round etc. She has played in the accompanying orchestras for many stars Max Jaffa, Alfredo Campoli etc. On graduation she became a primary school teacher with responsibility for music throughout the school. Still keeping a lively interest in music she has played for many amateur and professional stage shows throughout the north. She now plays with Sinfonia of Leeds and has played for Leeds Symphony Orchestra and was introduced to the world of Brass Bands by her son James, percussion.
